Without a template, you have very little hope. With a template it is not terribly difficult, but it is still a pain to update each page (outside of WordPress) — particularly if you are not a fluent coder. Also, I am already using WordPress and would prefer to create a squeeze page from within it.

Second option was to find a free squeeze page for WordPress

There are no shortage of example squeeze pages, but most of them are single html files with included images. The more advanced squeeze pages — designed for WordPress — are usually part of a theme.
